Since 1921, the Alpha Delta chapter of Sigma Kappa has celebrated an unparalleled bond of sisterhood on UT’s campus. In addition to this special bond, Sigmas strive to make the most of our college experiences by excelling in leadership, scholarship, social, and service to others.
All of our sisters are involved in campus activities outside of the sorority. Sig Kaps can be found in over 60 UT organizations, including SGA, PanCouncil, Relay for Life Exec, UT Equestrian Team, Orientation Leaders, UT Dance Company, and anchoring on The Volunteer Channel. Academics are also important to Sigmas—last year, we won the Dean’s Cup Scholarship Award, which proves our commitment to our studies. You can also find Sig Kaps in Academic Honor Societies, such as Order of Omega and Phi Eta Sigma. Sigma Kappas work very closely with our national philanthropies. We participate in Memory Walk, a national event for our main philanthropy, the Alzheimer’s Association. At the Knoxville Memory Walk, we were the 1st Place team, raising over $15,000. Each fall, we also hold an annual Kickball Tournament, and the proceeds go to Alzheimer’s research. Sigmas work hard at everything we do, and it’s no surprise we receive many awards and lots of recognition for our accomplishments. Last year some of our biggest achievements were 3rd Place in Dance Marathon, 1st Place in All-Sing, and 3rd Place in Greek Week.
Sisterhood is the most important part of Sig Kap, and the close friendships that exist within our sorority are irreplaceable. The sisters of Sigma Kappa always do our best to help others and support UT, but more than anything, we love to have fun and spend time with our wonderful sisters.
